Chardonnay Golf Club makes the metaphor easy, which is not the same as making the golf easy. American Canyon sits at the southern door of Napa. The vines are not decoration; they are the neighborhood. A round here is as much about place as score: Carneros light, a little wind, and the knowledge that California can put wine country and a fairway on the same piece of land.
JW’s personal notes from the round will live here — the funny moment, the people, the 19th hole — without inventing what hasn’t been written yet.
