The place

Laguna Seca means dry lake, which is a joke the hills do not always honor when the marine layer sits on them. The golf ranch shares a name and a neighborhood with one of America's great race tracks. The routing is steep, scenic, and uninterested in making you comfortable. Monterey has more famous courses. This one still feels like Monterey: cypress air, elevation, and the Pacific somewhere just out of view.
