The place

Mather used to launch aircraft. Now it launches tee shots, which is a less precise operation. The course sits on former base land east of Sacramento, open and practical, with that Central Valley horizon that makes every par-4 look longer than it is. History here is not a plaque on the 1st tee so much as the feeling of leftover runway space.
