Wine Country Without the Rush

Paso Robles Golf Club Paso Robles, California

Historic small-city golf in Paso Robles, on the Central Coast, where the oak-studded hills do most of the hospitality.

The place

Paso Robles has become a wine destination. The golf club is older than that wave and still feels like a town course: oaks, a Central Coast sky, and the slower clock of a place that used to be a stop on the way to somewhere else. Playing here is a reminder that California golf is a long north-south conversation, not just Bay Area and L.A.

JW’s personal notes from the round will live here — the funny moment, the people, the 19th hole — without inventing what hasn’t been written yet.
